     Intended as a quick resource guide for working journalists, this site will aid anyone looking for links to basic reference data and statistical sites in agriculture, crime, economics, health. law and politics and more.  This site is compiled and maintained by a professional journalist.

Economic Statistics Briefing Room

     The purpose of this service is to provide easy access to current Federal economic indicators. It provides links to information produced by a number of Federal agencies. All of the information included in the Economic Statistics Briefing Room is maintained and updated by the statistical units of those agencies. All the estimates for the indicators presented in the Federal Statistics Briefing Rooms are the most currently available values.

Election Statistics

     Since 1920, the Clerk of the House has collected and published the official vote counts for federal elections from the official sources among the various states and territories. These documents, out of print for many years, have been collected and scanned in a format to make them once again available to researchers and students.

     Statistics from recent elections are available as both HTML and scanned image (Adobe Acrobat .PDF) formats. Users should be aware that printing a document in its entirety is often a lengthy process depending on your equipment.

     This is a gateway site to statistics and the agencies of the United States government that generate statistics.

National Center for Education Statistics

     The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences, is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education.

Statistical Abstract of the United States

     "The Statistical Abstract of the United States, published since 1878, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.  Use the Abstract as a convenient volume for statistical reference, and as a guide to sources of more information both in print and on the Web.  Sources of data include the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and many other Federal agencies and private organizations."

Statistical Resources on the Web (University of Michigan)

     This site, which is hosted by the University of Michigan, was chosen as one of the top 50 websites.  It provides access to U.S. and international statistics in all subject areas.

United Nations Statistical Division
