     Intended as a quick resource guide for working journalists, this site will aid anyone looking for links to basic reference data and statistical sites in agriculture, crime, economics, health, law and politics and more. This site was compiled by a professional journalist.

Library Spot: encyclopedias, maps, online libraries, quotations, dictionaries and more 
     This "resource for online research" contains annotated links to Web sites for "educators and students, librarians and their patrons, families, [and] businesses."       An enormous, searchable collection of links. "Facts-at-a-Glance" has links to ready reference sites with everything from college rankings to a zip code finder. "Current News/Weather/Business/Sports" includes links to newspapers, magazines, and headline news. "Refdesk Subject Categories" is an alphabetical directory of links by subject. "Top Reference Tools" links to encyclopedias and other sources of facts. Fun and help and advice sections round off the site.

Virtual Reference Shelf: Selected Web Resources Compiled by the Library of Congress 
     This site gathers a collection of links to Internet sites organized into about thirty ready reference subject divisions. Also provided are links to other similar sites, such as the Librarian's Index to the Internet. Patrons who do not find an answer among the links, may use the "Ask a librarian" e-mail service for help from a division, specialized reference service, or reading room in the Library of Congress.
