Ordering Articles from Other Libraries

How to Order Articles That Are Not Available in the Mount Aloysius College Library

When searching for articles in a database, citations may be returned for articles that are not available full-text in a database, in print or in microform.  If such articles appear to support the topic, take the additional time to read the article's abstract (summary) to determine if it will advance the research.  Or, an instructor may provide you with a citation to a particular article and tell you to find it in the library.

In either case, before placing an interlibrary loan request for the article, determine:

  • Whether or not the magazine or journal is available in another database.
  • Whether or not the library subscribes to the magazine or journal.

This can be done by:

  • Conducting a search by magazine or journal title in JOURNAL FINDER*.
  • If the particular magazine or journal is listed, make certain to compare the date in the article citation to the date range listed in the JOURNAL FINDER results.

If the magazine or journal is not available, the article may then be requested electronically through the Interlibrary Loan submission form.
